Natoma Station dr

Natoma Station in pictures.

Natoma Station is located at the intersection of Blue Ravine and Folsom Blvd. It touches Blue ravine at one end and Folsom Blvd on the other. The area was owned by Natomas Company, which sold it to different builders in late 1980s. There is a 10 acre park with play area, tennis courts, soccer field and also base ball field. Right at the park there is Brighton School, which cater to the needs of children from 1st grade to 5th. Then there is an award winning Elementary school situated at the other end of the park. Across the park is a wet land area, consisting of walking trails and bike paths. There is another wet land area on the other end of natoma station, where Turn Pike and Blue Ravine intersect.

Negatives of the development of Natoma Station dr

The development of Natoma Station dr was but natural in mid 1980s. One of the negatives is the shrouding into oblivion of national heritage like Chinese Diggings, disappearence of green land, heavy traffic, etc.

Positives of development of Natoma Station dr

Modern times bring with them expansion of cities and increase in population. The greatest positive of development in this area is responding to the need of housing developments near the biggest employer of the city which is Intel. With the arrival of Intel in Folsom in mid 1980s, this area grew rapidly. Young families, educated and energetic started to settle in and around Natoma Station dr. Also came economic activity and generation of employment to hundreds of people. The area is very close to highway 50, which is why those who commute to the other cities prefer to live here.
All this and more made this area a desirable living oasis for many couples and educated individauls.

General Plan for the city of Folsom

Folsom's General Plan is a long term policy guide for the physical, economic and environment growth of the City. It is comprised of goals, policies and implementation programs which are based on an assessment of current and future needs and available resources.

California State Law requires each City and County to adopt a General Plan "for the physical development of the City or County, and any land outside its boundaries which ..... bears relation to its planning ( Government Code Section 65300)."

The role of each community's General Plan is to act as a "constitution" for the development, the foundation upon which all land use decisions are made. It expresses community development goals and embodies public policy relative to the distribution of future land use, both public and private( General Plan Guidelines, June 1987.OPR). The Plan is to be used by the local decision-makers as a visionary document, a "Blueprint" for the City's future growth and development.

CC&Rs

The covenants, conditions and restrictions (CC&Rs) are the governing documents that dictate how the homeowners association operates and what rules the owners -- and their tenants and guests -- must obey. These legal documents might also be called the bylaws, the master deed, the houses rules or another name. These documents and rules are legally enforceable by the homeowners association, unless a specific provision conflicts with federal, state or local laws.
The properties on Natoma Station dr are covered by CC&Rs, which were part of the original plan designed for the entire property area as well as the specific improvement and and sale of each lot.

The role of Intel in the growth of Natoma Station Dr

Twenty years ago Intel Corp. broke ground on a remote prairie on the outskirts of Folsom and altered the regional landscape in ways that no one at the time could have imagined.
A handful of company officials and local dignitaries attended the ceremony on May 24, 1984, surrounded by 236 acres of rolling grassland that Intel had purchased for a satellite campus.
Folsom was then a small, isolated town, its economy dominated by a maximum-security prison. Sacramento, a 20-minute drive to the west on Highway 50, was a sedate government town.
It was nothing like the Silicon Valley, Intel's home base, which by the early 1980s had become the fast-paced capital of the high-tech world. And that's just what Intel's location scout had in mind.
Within a year, Intel had two four-story office buildings, FM1 and FM2, on the Folsom site north of Highway 50, and a few hundred employees. There was plenty of room to grow, and grow it did. Want to know more about Forecast Group L.P, please click here

The land around Natoma Station Dr was originally all mining cobbles (rocks) that were pulled from the American River..The first buyers of homes in the development had to sign disclosures that they were aware the houses were built on these rocks.

There were a number of builders in the development, and also some lots on Hopfield and Bayline were sold as lots, and custom/semi custom houses were build. The builders as people remember were US Builders, Lexington Homes, Kaufman & Broad, and Richmond American,( most of these builders are now out of business. )That is why there are a number of different styles throughout the development.

Folsom Power House

How amazing it is that Folsom Powerhouse was used to generate electricity in the year 1895, when it was built on American River 22 miles downstream from Sacramento. It was H.P. Livermore who envisioned this powerhouse and it still exists much like the same since it was built in last decade of the 19th century. For complete details about this interesting chapter of Folsom's history, click on the following link.http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=1335

The history of Folsom

Folsom has rich historic past. The tribes, the Nisenan Maidu Indians, who roamed here lived peacefully until the intruders came and changed the demography of the region. In 1827, Jedediah Smith led a group of trappers through the area. His search for a pass over the Sierra Nevada's opened up the land to trappers and traders drawing the attention of John Sutter and William A. Leidesdorff. In 1842, the latter was granted 35,000 acres along the American River called "The Rancho Rio de los Americanos."
